This product has 77.5% of indicated weight is 24-Karat gold, and it becomes 22-Karat gold after firing. Art Clay Gold Paste comes in two bottles. One has 1.5gm of thick paste; the other contains a 5ml medium that is used to dilute the paste to a more workable consistency on glazed surfaces. Fires at 800?C / 1472?F. Liver of Sulfur is the traditional way to get a rich patina on silver. On sterling silver, it adds a black patina that can then be polished off the high areas, creating contrast and an antiqued look. On fine silver (such as the Metal Clay) - it produces a rainbow of colours from bronzes and golds to peacock blues and purples and purples.
It does stink like rotting eggs. Dissolve a pea-sized chunk in hot (never boiling) water and immerse the item to be patina-ed (hanging from a thread or wire allows you to get it in and out without making your fingers all smelly.) Watch the item and pull out when it looks good - you can always re-dunk and add more. Takes about 10 seconds. If you don't like the effect - refiring will remove it. (A hand torch works fine.)
Follow instructions and safety precautions. We canNOT ship this via air - it will ship separately via ground. 8 ounces will last you years - you might want to split it with a friend. Store unused Liver of Sulfur in a cool dry place, and it needs to be dark. Made up solution can be stored in the fridge if you are ok with anything that smelly in your fridge and you are absolutely 100% certain that no one in the house will accidentally drink it. Three pound capacity tumbler. The inside of the barrel has flattened sides to give a more positive tumbling action. 1.5 quart size barrel (1.4 litres). Instructions for Polishing Fired Art Clay Silver - (from Art Clay World website). Use only 2 pounds of stainless steel shot, with water inside the tumbler. Fill the tumbler 3-quarters of the way with water. You may place as many pieces in the tumbler as you want as long as they are all able to move freely inside the chamber. The following can be used inside the tumbler to assist in cleaning and polishing pieces: 1 drop of liquid dish soap, 1 tablespoon of jewelry cleaner, or 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Use only 1 of these at a time. Note: Tumbling pieces with patina will remove the patina and will dirty the stainless steel shot. Clean your shot by running the tumbler with only the shot, water, and 2 tablespoons of baking soda for an hour. Pearls, soft stones, and other soft materials are not recommended for use in the tumbler, as they may be damaged. If your area has hard water - you may get better results with distilled water - available at grocery stores and pharmacies.
