Cinnabar

A touch of the exotic orient — these are "modern" cinnabar beads — meaning these are made with modern resins and lacquers. Traditionally, cinnabar was built-up layers of lacquer that was hardened and then carved. The traditional formulas contained high quantities of mercury and are considered toxic by today's standards. These beads are made from non-toxic, modern recipes.
