This interesting finding reminds me of nothing quite so much as an attachment on a horse's harness. It folds over and pushes onto a pin - so you can use this for a pendant where you want to swap the pendant on and off, or earrings, same idea, or even as a clasp, I think, hooking onto a ring. This variation on a bell cap - the traditional style glued down over the end of a bead - has two prongs set into it that can be folded down and into the holes on a drop bead for a lovely, finished way to hang a bead or pendant! Use to hang pendants. Gently pry open, put bead on one post, and squeeze back together, lining up second post with hole. The gap where the bead fits at it's smallest is about 4 mm - but opens to take up to a 6 mm bead or so. Loop is .9 mm hole. Notice the loop goes front to back on this one, instead of side to side. An elegant way to hang a pendant with a forward facing hole (like a heart!). Not just a way to hang a bead, but an elegant little detail as well. Pull open a little, if necessary, insert bead, and gently squeeze shut. It stays closed (although I wouldn't recommend using it as a changeable bail for swapping a bead in and out all the time.)
