Dumortierite

Dumortiertie (do-mor-TEER-ite) was first described in 1881 from a discovery in Chaponost, in the Rhone-Alps of France, and named for the French paleontologist, Eugene Domortier. Found around the world in Austria, Canada, France, Italy, Madagascar, Namibia, Nevade, Norway, Poland, Russia, and Sri Lanka. This Dumortierite is from Madagascar and South Africa. it is a micro-crystalline quartz.

The blue variety can sometimes be mistaken for Sodalite or Lapis Lazuli but is it more of a denim-blue.

It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.

Metaphysically - Dumortierite is the stone of patience and helps with organizational abilities. It's going to be in big trouble around here!
