s24943 Magazine - BeadStyle - 2010 - JulyCreative components designed by Katie Hacker! As seen on the cover of Bead Style magazine, these components are designed to be filled with beads to look like channel-set gems!

There are a couple of approaches you can use, depending on what you are making. You can either wire the beads in place, or glue them, or both. They have holes in the side walls of the channel that you can string through, or put headpins, so for a the straight bar components, a headpin or string them is easy and fast!

For the circle, you may find it easier to thread them separately, and then drop them into position and either string or use a headpin in FRONT of the string to secure, or a line of glue (i.e. the Hypo-tube Cement) to secure them in position. In general - they take 4 mm beads, and I find that the round ones do fit better than the bicones.

This straight bar has a hole at each end - shown with 4 mm Swarovski cubes, secured with a head pin. This short bar is a little wider - the beads are 6 mm round Swarovskis. This round shows size 6/0 seedbeads. They have been threaded and tied in a loop - they are not secured yet. This half circle shows 4 mm Firepolish glued into position. They have been glued at right angles to the channel - so they could not be strung. Headpins were threaded through the end holes before gluing commenced. This double circle is Swa 4 mm rounds on the inside circle, and 4 mm bicones on the outer circle. They are threaded and tied, and secured with glue. A headpin is threaded and looped to create a loop to hang it from.

Katiedids Components - Circle - Closed Center - 2 Hole - Silver (1)
Channel diameter is 3.75 mm - so, allowing for shape - a 4 mm bead generally fits quite nicely. Hole DOES NOT run all the way across, so you string into one side, stop, and restart on the other. For the life of me, I can not figure out the point of this one. If I wanted to do that, I'd use the 4 hole and ignore 2 holes. Whatever. Orange arrows show the holes. Silver plated. 25mm By the each.

Katiedids Components - Pendant Round - Double Channel - Silver (1)
Silver plated. Channel width is 3.4 mm. Two channels to take two tracks of beads. Takes a 4 mm round, a 4 mm bicone sits a little higher, but still works. Hole is from the centre out through both channels to the side - so it hangs a a pendant. 35mm By the each.
