Pressed Glass Beads

From around the world, pressed glass beads are a staple of jewellery making, crafts and home decor. From simple round shapes to elaborate forms, these beads are stamped from hot glass, have holes added, are polished, tumbled and finished.

They come in a wide variety of shapes, including leaves, flowers, animals, hearts and a number of strange shapes that we have had to invent a whole new category of geometry to classify. These include squoosh-a-gons, twistangles and cheerios. Forget Euclidean geometry - we have bead-ometry! Some beads - we have just included on pages sorted by colour as we just can't figure out where else to put them or how else to classify them! (Also, we don't like to have little pages that don't have lots to look at - so if we only have one or two types of a bead, we might put them on the colour page until we get more. That was more than you wanted to know, right?)

A round, smooth bead is commonly known as a "druk" - (rhymes with "truck").

Isn't that how you sort beads anyway?

Round beads - what a novel concept!
