Introduction to Chinese Knotting: Button Knots

Course Outline

This course will introduce you to the traditional art of Chinese knotting. Learn to tie two styles of button knots, and make a necklace cord with an adjustable sliding button knot fastener.
You will also learn how to incorporate these techniques into your jewelry designs, when stringing or making pendant style necklaces and accessories.

During the class you can choose to complete a button knot necklace or button knot cord for your favourite pendant.

Skill Level: Beginner

Prerequisite: N/A

Price: $45 (+GST), payment in advance required

Supplies: $10 (+ tax). Course kit includes printed illustrated instructions, practice cords and sufficient cord, to make up to a 20inch button knot cord for a pendant.  Lots of colour choice to satisfy your creativity.

Stone pendants, cords and kits will also be available for purchase.

Need to Bring: Bring your favourite pendant to class for that perfect colour match.

Instructor Bio:

Angela studied Chinese knotting while living in Hong Kong.  In that energized environment, surrounded by exceptional knotted art she found her passion and saw the endless for possibilities for weaving traditional fiber and stone into bold contemporary jewelry.

Angela has recently relocated to Toronto from Mexico where she showed in both local and state shows.
