Beaded Beads

This class is geared towards giving you the basics and tricks to beading over a core bead. This is a jumping off point from which your creations will take on a life of their own.

We will use Peyote stitch to cover a core bead using both increasing and decreasing stitches. Almost any size bead can be covered using whatever size beads you like. This is a creativity-building pastime.

Instructor: Cindy is a graduate of the Ontario School of Art and Design, where she studied sculpture. A friend introduced her to beading and she has never looked back. It was love at first sight (and feel) and beading became her passion. Cindy started with peyote, and now she is constantly at play with every stitch she has come across. Her elaborate creations grow out of this play. Cindy starts a project with a general idea in mind and the piece takes on a life of its own as it goes along. Sometimes it is close to the original idea, other times it is miles away and has spawned many other new ideas. Cindy enjoys that time has no meaning when she is immersed in a project. She also loves the constant adventure of bead hunting.

Cindy is a primarily self taught bead artist with a background in the fine arts. She has been beading steadily for the last 6 yrs and is always in search of trying new things. Everything is considered as possible inspirations be it a flower a twig or historical artifacts. Creativity and curiosity are her means to a balanced life.

Prerequisite: Some Experience with Peyote Stitch

Price: $30.00 + GST. payment in advance required.

Supplies: Size 11/0s seed beads, needles and beading thread. Supplies not included, please bring your own or purchase in store prior to the class.
