"Lampworking Weekend" Two-day, 10-hour class for beginners

This is a two-day weekend class for beginners or those with a little experience who want to learn to make glass beads.

Glass has been manipulated by humans, heated and formed into glittering shapes and dazzling colours, for some 7,000 years. But recent improvements in the equipment and technology, along with an opening of information and change of attitudes has made this intriquing art form more accessible than it has ever been before. The class is hands on, with a maximum of 4 students.

  • Classes are individually structured to the student's needs and goals. (if there is something in particular you want to learn, let me know!)

    The class runs on Saturday & Sunday, starting at 11 am - 1 pm, 1 hr break for lunch (there are restaurants within a few minutes drive, or you may bring a lunch, there is a fridge for keeping items cold and a microwave) and resuming at 2 and going to 5 pm, both days, for a total of 10 hours.

  • The cost is $300.00, and includes all the equipment and glass that you will require. Also included is a studio card for an additional 5 hours of practice time!

The beads you make in class will be kiln-annealed and will be available for pick-up the following day. If you are from out of town, we are happy to mail them to you at no extra charge.

Please wear cotton fabric or other non-flammable clothing; long, tight-fitting sleeves and closable collars; old jeans, and if you have long hair, please tie it back. Safety glasses are provided.

In addition, student get a 15% discount in store on beads on the days of their class.

The Instructor:

Lampworking for about five years now, and teaching for nearly three, Dwyn's particular strength is in making large, sculptural beads. She has been featured in The Flow Magazines' Women in Glass issue. Her website is www.dragonjools.com
