Foiled Again - Keeping it Shiny with Silver Foil

Encased silver foil is a lovely effect in lampworked beads - but sometimes we struggle with keeping the silver from melting away and disappearing.

Learn how to roll a bead in silver foil, and keep it cool enough to encase it. We will also explore using different colours to encase, and the why they can dramatically change the look of the silver. All the beads in the accompanying photo are made only with silver foil - the apparent "gold" foil is produced by careful selection of the glass.

Instructor: Passionate about lampworking - Dwyn considers playing with hot glass to be addictive. You have been warned! Dwyn has been melting glass since 2000, and is known for her large beads and organic forms. Her website is www.dragonjools.com.

Skill Level: beginner to intermediate. Some lampworking experience required. This is also an excellent class for those wanting to learn more about encasing.

Supplies: All glass and foil will be included.

Need to Bring: All tools are provided, but if you have favourite tools or glasses, you are welcome to bring them and use them. (We suggest you put your name on them or some identifying mark.) Please wear cotton clothing, long sleeves, old jeans, and tie back any long hair.
