Earrings and Pendants

Instructor: Marilyn Gardiner

Design earrings to complement favourite outfits. Choose from a wide variety of beads and sterling or gold filled ear clips, hooks or posts. Learn to make simple wire loops & double loops. As well as making earrings you can use these skills to prepare a bead to use as a pendant. We will discuss design ideas and learn about types of earring findings and other supplies as well as resources for inspiration.

Technique Focus: Making simple loops and double loops.

Price: $30.00 + HST. payment in advance required. Plus supply fee (see below) payable directly to the instructor.

Supplies: $25 plus HST. All beads and findings provided.

Need to Bring: Magnifiers/glasses if needed for close-up work. All necessary tools are supplied for in-class work.

Instructor: Marilyn has a passion for creating jewellery. This is her new lease on a life — she is a retired teacher and school-board computer consultant.

Three interwoven paths are developing in her life. The first is a love of pattern and design from different eras and cultures and its reflection in her bead work and designs. The second is her enjoyment of teaching adults, and the third is the satisfaction of developing beadwork kits with clear, step-by-step directions and diagrams that really work with learners. Many of her beading skills were self-taught using books, the internet, and trial and error but she enjoys seeking out and travelling to learn from experts such as Don Pierce, Virginia Blakelock & Carol Perrenoud (bead loom), William Hodge, Marla Gassner, & David Chatt (off-loom beading), Jennie Might (bead crochet), Bette Kelley (broadcollars), Rod Owen (Kumihimo), Jennifer Campbell & Sharilyn Miller (wirework), Jay Humphreys (PMC), Fred Zweig (silverwork), and Joni Kisro (chainmaille).

She teaches classes in Waterloo Region, Toronto, Texas and Arizona.
