Persian GSG Chain Bracelet

Create a Persian GSG Chain bracelet that is delightful to wear—it is narrow (about 1 cm), and uses a heavier gauge of sterling silver to give it weight on your wrist.

Learn to create this chainmail pattern (from the Persian family) and how to work to professional standards when using pliers and jump rings. Find out about sources & resources for materials and chain designs. We will discuss creative options for future projects that build on the skills you have learned.

Instructor: Marilyn has a passion for creating jewellery. This is her new lease on a life — she is a retired teacher and school-board computer consultant.

Three interwoven paths are developing in her life. The first is a love of pattern and design from different eras and cultures and its reflection in her bead work and designs. The second is her enjoyment of teaching adults, and the third is the satisfaction of developing beadwork kits with clear, step-by-step directions and diagrams that really work with learners. Many of her beading skills were self-taught using books, the internet, and trial and error but she enjoys seeking out and travelling to learn from experts such as Don Pierce, Virginia Blakelock & Carol Perrenoud (bead loom), William Hodge, Marla Gassner, & David Chatt (off-loom beading), Jennie Might (bead crochet), Bette Kelley (broadcollars), Rod Owen (Kumihimo), Jennifer Campbell & Sharilyn Miller (wirework), Jay Humphreys (PMC), Fred Zweig (silverwork), and Joni Kisro (chainmaille).

She teaches classes in Waterloo Region, Toronto, Texas and Arizona.

Price: $30.00 + GST. payment in advance required

Prerequisite: Experience making chains with jump rings

Supplies: $59 kit fee. Includes instructions and sufficient sterling jump rings for an 8" bracelet. Clasp is NOT included.

Need to Bring: Magnifiers/glasses if needed for close-up work. Optional: bring 2 pairs of jewellers’ pliers (chainnose, flatnose, bentnose) if you have them.
