From Junk to Beads
Making Paper Beads

Course outline: Are you in love with the unusual? Have you ever wanted to make your own beads?  Do you want to use up that pile of paper you’ve been hoarding?  How do you feel about making unique jewellery out of components that you’ve made yourself?  Please join me in exploring the wacky world of paper beads.  Our main focus will be on making 1” cylindrical beads out of recycled &/or stash papers and then embellishing them with a limitless variety of options.  Design and finishing techniques, available tools and alternate shapes/sizes of beads will be discussed. The process is simple, but the possibilities are endless! 

Skill level: Beginner

Prerequisite: None

Technique: Exploring the art of paper bead making with a focus on altered &/or recycled materials. 

Need to bring: Laughter, enthusiasm and an active imagination! Any special paper bits or embellishments that they’ve been hoarding/would like to use.  Pen, pencil, notepad, ruler, scissors or other paper cutting tools.

Price: 60.00 +HST
Kit Fee: 20.00 Includes: magazine pages, mono-printed paper, scraps of Japanese paper, Mod Podge, Gel Medium, toothpicks, paint, paintbrushes, thread, baby wipes, glitter and embellishments, texture tools, written instructions and templates.
Duration: approximately 7 hours
