The Corsage Project

Since 2005, beadFX has been a champion of the Corsage Project!

The Corsage Project is a charitable organization that coordinates donors to ensure that local teenagers who are due to graduate, but can not afford to attend their prom — can have the lovely dresses, shoes, and, most importantly, (in our humble opinion) the distinctive jewellery that will highlight an evening that they remember for the rest of their lives. Who doesn’t remember their prom? How would you feel today if you had not been able to afford to attend? We feel that it is one thing to be a rebellious teenager and not want to go— but quite another to feel that you are unable to go at all.

We are so proud of you. Bead people are really the most fabulous people in the world. Your outpouring of support was tremendous. The donations that came in were fabulous — showing your loving attention to detail, your thoughtfulness and your generosity and greatness of spirit.

We hope that by giving these young women some truly special and thoughtful handmade pieces of jewelry, that we can contribute, in some small way, to a very special evening with very special memories.

So, we would like to help these young girls who might otherwise skip this landmark occasion for fear of embarrassment or ostracism. So, we want to partner with you, our dear friends & customers in the following arrangement:

You supply the creativity and skills, we give you a store credit for 75% of the cost of the materials you use in the finished pieces you donate. The deal is this: You buy the beads from us, make the jewellery, and donate it to the Corsage Project (you can drop it off at the store here or mail it to us). The deadline is April 29th. When you have finished, calculate the cost of the item — we have an Excel Spreadsheet online (click on the link and save to your computer to use) that can help make this easier — bring us the jewellery, your beadFX receipts, and the worksheet — and we will give you a store credit for 75% of the cost of the beads and findings in the jewellery (You can redeem it that day or at a later date). If you are having troubles with some techniques, like finishing a necklace or making earrings, then you can drop by and get some help.

So start thinking about that dream prom jewellery you wished you'd had. And then, start creating! Ladies, start your imaginations!
