Spectacular Kludges

Another fun time waster There, I fixed it! – You have no idea how much this site reminds me of my husband – truly frightening Turns out this one was an April Fools joke from Zappo’s – but you get the idea 🙂

Wire Lace

I wanted to pass along a reply we got from the supplier of our wire lace. One of our customers wanted to know how the finish would hold up. It’s funny talking to suppliers. I’m always really amazed at what some folks will do to test out their jewelry! Q – I’ve got a customer asking if the wirelace colors would be affected by sweat, perfume or other body chemistry. Also will it ‘tarnish’ or change colour over time or if abraded?A –The color is enamel and bonded onto the wire. It will not tarnish and should not change color. …

Taking Great Photos. Part 2: Three important tips and one killer secret

Last week, I talked about the first step in taking great pictures is to figure out what you want them to do. That approach may seem rather philosophical for some of you – “C’mon – I just want take great pictures without thinking about how they are going to be used in the future,” you may say. Well, my friend – without a goal – how will you know you when you have arrived? So – let’s assume you have established what you want your pictures to do. Next – let’s run over some common features that regardless of whether …

The Tunnels under beadFX

Every once in a while – someone says something like “I hear there are a bunch of old tunnels in your area. Something that dates back to the second World War?” Yes indeedy – there are old tunnels underground here – from a munitions factory that was located in the Warden and Eglinton area. The tunnels were for moving ammunition safely out of sight, and as a potential bomb shelter for employees. The company was the General Engineering Company of Ontario, and there are oodles of details and photos collected by Barbara Dickson in the course of researching her novels. …

This was a lovely surprise. I got an email message to say that a lovely person included a picture of our beads on a treasury on etsy. The etsy treasuries are curated by members of the etsy community. If you’ve never had a gander through the treasuries on etsy – take some time and have a poke through. They’re also wonderful for igniting the inspirational flame. Study the colours, and also have a look at the some of the fabulous photography!
