Every year or so, I become completely disgusted with my work space. It’s unorganized, messy, and I can’t find anything. On the other hand, I like to have everything out where I can see it. If I can’t see it, it doesn’t end up in any of my designs.
Now that I don’t actually own a bead store anymore, I have more time to make create…funny how that happens… :-). I have more time to create, more of a need to create (I need to make a living somehow) ;-), and the more of a mess I’m making in my “ahem” studio, also affectionately known as the dungeon.
I’ve tried blogging about the clean up, and organizing, in the hopes that the accountability to my readers would encourage me to continue with the project – Nope, that doesn’t work. Now, I haven’t completely given up on ever having a sunny, bright, fun and magical space in which to create. I may just have to wait 20 years until my kidlets leave the house for good. (And no, I don’t want to hear the horror stories of the kids who just won’t leave). If they come back, they will have to sleep in the dungeon, because their bedrooms are going to be my craft rooms. 😉
I thought I’d post some links to folks who have lovely studio’s for you to get inspired by. Now, I know that a massive clean up job was completed prior to the photo’s, but still, a clean up job wouldn’t make mine look anything like these…
Here’s an inspiring link from one of my favourite jewelry designers on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/storque/spotlight/quit-your-day-job-staroftheeast-7472/
No beads here, but stunning just the same: http://springcart.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/11/im-having-craft-studio-envy.html
I think I’ve posted this before, but it’s worth repeating – http://www.flickr.com/groups/craftrooms/pool/

I’m having a lot of trouble finding pics of actual beaders studio’s. I’ll keep looking, but maybe we’re all really messy? 🙂
