Giving Thanks for a Creative Life

Here in Canada, our national holiday of Thanksgiving takes place the second Monday of October and celebrates the harvest. The typical Thanksgiving dinner consists of turkey, mashed potatoes, other autumnal veggies, and delicious pumpkin pie (with lots of whipped cream, of course)! It is a time that friends and families get together for food, fun, and more food. We remember the good things in life and give thanks for them. Personally, I’m thankful for being able to live a creative life – the opportunity to express myself with beads and lots of colour. I can’t imagine what life would be like without them!

Early-October has quite a few classes that will spark your creativity including a continuation of Marti Brown’s anondized niobium classes. Wireworkers will love the new wire wrapped pendant class with Lucie Lee. Catherine Sequalino Poitier is again sharing how to do tambour embroidery and Gillian Clarke is teaching how to do a fabulous chainmaille bracelet. First Nations artist Naomi Smith is sharing her love of moosehair tufting and showing how it can be used in your jewellery designs. Boris Kolodny will be showing students how to unveil the beauty hidden in rough stone slabs while creating a flat-back cabochon.
