It’s meltingly hot in Toronto, so I felt that it was time to discuss hot leather bracelets! What’s the weather like in your part of the world, and do you like leather jewelery?
I haven’t made much in the way of leather jewelery, but I’d like to change that in the near future. Leather is one of those frontiers that I’ve been hesitant to cross. But why, you say? I don’t really know.
Several years ago, I did make a series of Regaliz leather bracelets. They were fast, fun, easy to do, and made great gifts! Simple components, that slide right on the leather, then clasps attached with a few drops of Super New Glue! Depending on the components you use, they can be either simple or complex, but definitely suitable for both men and women. Of course, BeadFX carries the supplies!

But how else could we possibly make hot leather bracelets? Well, there’s narrow flat, round, hollow round, and wide flat leather in various sizes. But what would you do with these supplies? I’d probably use either the flat, or round leather, to make a series of sexy wrap, or multi-strand bracelets. Mixing the leather with metal and glass, would make them even hotter!!! Then again, what do you think about threading memory wire, through hollow round leather, for another hot bracelet idea? Pretty cool I think!
While all of these would be great, I’ve been playing around with the idea of altering leather surfaces. How? Well that’s a good question. Leather is open to possibilities (and why wouldn’t it be?)! I’ve been kicking around some ideas, yet I’m not quite ready to share. But let me tell you, it will involve paint of some sort, and perhaps a little metal. Prototype first, hot leather bracelets second, then sharing third! If I like the process, I might even design a future workshop. Would that make you happy?
I wonder if either resin, or polymer clay are compatible with leather? Just thinking out loud! LOL!
Just plain sexy, from theclothingcovecom!
If you happen to own either a Big Kick (if not, we do sell them), or Big Shot machine (both originally designed for paper crafters), you can purchase dies (with the help of a few accessories) that allow you to cut out, and then embellish &/or emboss leather bracelets. I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve already purchased everything I need, but haven’t gotten around to doing anything with them yet! Perhaps that could be part of my next big idea?
Do you think that its possible to cool down, with some hot leather bracelets this summer? I’m not sure, but I’m willing to try, and it certainly couldn’t hurt!
