I love to create little gifts for the holidays! Do you?
Yes, I do create larger gifts as well, but my favourites are always those that you can create in an evening or two. You know the ones I mean!!!! Earrings, stretchy bracelets, simple pendants, and the such!
I’ve probably made more than a few of each in the past, but I’ve been so busy lately, that I haven’t been able to concentrate on my little gifts this year. So, let’s wander about the BeadFX website, then focus on a few of the possibilities.
Swarovski bling is always a hit at this time of the year! All you need are a few 6- or 8-mm rounds, headpins, ear wires, jump rings, and chain (I like to use wire wrapped loops for this, but simple loops are also good). Earrings are always perfect as hostess gifts, but add a chain, and you’ll certainly be invited back next year (but only if you behave yourself during the party).
Okay, it’s hard to believe, but not everyone likes to sparkly all the way! So, how about sterling silver, pearls, and semi-precious stones? All look absolutely fabulous, as earrings and bracelets. If you’re making stretchy bracelets, don’t forget to add a focal bead or charm. I love sterling silver, but we have a nice selection of base metal as well. Oh! Don’t forget those huge crimp covers, that are just perfect for hiding unsightly knots!!
I spotted something cute on the internet, that involved large paperclips, and leftover beads/stones (but of course, I didn’t bookmark the site). Just stack them up on a headpin, and then make a wrapped loop on the end. String them on your paper clip, and instant fancy paper clip, or a rather short bookmark. Now I want to try them with some of my nicer beads!!
Hey, let’s not forget key chains, stitch markers, and fancy wine charms!!! All are pretty easy to make, and would be perfect as either hostess gifts and/or stocking stuffers!!! Also, what do you buy your great-aunt Mabel, who has absolutely everything stuffed into her little, tiny apartment?
Bookmarks are also cool to make, because again, all you need are headpins (or wire), beads of some type, perhaps a charm, and either a wrapped, or simple loop. Fast, easy, and a great stocking stuffer!!! Or, how about buying that child (or grown-up child), a book, then placing the bookmark on one of your favourite pages?
This is what Interweave had to say when I Googled “Quick DIY Beaded Items”.
While you’re at it, don’t forget to check out our “Inspirations” pages. You never know what ideas might be sparked there!!!!!
I never run out of ideas, but I think that I may have run out of beady little gifts to make for the 2018 holidays! Do you have any other ideas to share?
