It is always a thrill to have Jean Power come to BeadFX! Joining us from England, Jean is an internationally acclaimed designer, author, and instructor who specializes in geometric seed beading. She has authored eights books (with two more to come) and has contributed to books and magazines over the last several years.
In addition to the classes, BeadFX will be hosting a Meet and Greet in the store. Jean will be bringing patterns and kits with her. We will have several copies of her books available and Jean will be happy to sign them for you.
Jean’s classes are:
Crashing Waves Necklace
Friday, May 31
10:00am – 5:00pm
Learn how to use geometric beading techniques to create a striking, textured Star pendant which hangs on a CRAW rope (stitch will be taught in class) with matching beaded fastening. The swirling & undulating design on the Star is inspired by crashing waves & sea foam whilst the rope is beaded in sand colours and its shape is inspired by the sand dunes I walk on in Cornwall. Intermediate; must be comfortable using peyote stitch.
Peacock Pearl Box
Saturday, June 1, or
Sunday, June 2
10:00am – 5:00pm either day
Learn how to use geometric beading techniques to create a striking vessel that stands on its own beaded feet. The lid has a large crystal centrepiece and pearl highlights incorporated into the beadwork. The class will cover all the techniques needed to make the vessel as well as how to bead variations to make a unique piece of beadwork. Intermediate; must be comfortable using peyote stitch.
The classes are each $175 + HST. You can register on-line by clicking on the appropriate link. Each class requires materials to bring with you to class; see the class page for complete details.
