Pearls that will speak for themselves

This week – it’s pearls. Strands of pearls for your pearly pleasure. And that includes some Big Hole pearls too, for using on cord, leather, wrap bracelets, etc. I don’t think I need to say much about pearls – you know what a pearl is, and you know that you like them!   We just restocked on the Bead on it Boards, and added a dark velvet version (for those working with light coloured beads that disappear on the cream background.)       To go with those pearls? Don’t forget the easy knotter, and for the ultimate traditional knotted …

It’s a Rocky Road – but it’s 20% off!

Which means – that when you slip on a piece of chocolate, you land face first in a marshmallow – which isn’t really all that bad. So, in the spirit of that, we are tempting you this week with new “Rocks” – stone beads, but you can land in the marshmallows, because we are putting all the stone beads on sale – at 20% off! Including the new ones. 😉 Iolite and African Turquoise! African Turquoise is a black-spotted jasper in mint green and turquoise colours. Harder than actual turquoise; pretty, soothing colours, and budget-friendly – this is an excellent …

Birds of a Feather – Bead Together

A big round Zen Moon face was cruising over the forest, calm and ethereal in the night sky. It was not alone among Zen Moons, but they took turns, because it would be too confusing to have multiple moons overhead. Two Fertility Goddesses were out for a pleasant stroll along the moonlit road, which was paved with Potholed Rectangles. “Damn,” she said Ms Turquoise as she turned her ankle for the third time. “I wish I didn’t have to walk down this path of potholes.” “Well,” said Ms Purple, who had so far, annoyingly, managed to step lightly over the …

Beautiful Buttons & Bulk Carrier Beads

Buttons – we have some beautiful new glass buttons to go with our existing glass buttons! The colours of these never fail to amaze me, and the myriad variations – well – as the resident photographer/database goddess – they make me crazy, but as a designer – they are wonderful. 😉 Ok – which one of these Lacy Flower Buttons do you love the most? I’m leaning the the fuchsia / verdigris – because of the contrast – but the others might be easier to integrate into a project. Or these magnificent peacock buttons! Or the Dragonflies? Because even if …

Bow & Cali

Not the latest music sensation, but two new shapes in shaped, multi-hole beads! The Bow Bead First up, the Bow bead – new from Preciosa, is large compared to other shaped-beads, and is a gently curved bar, with two holes. I’m quite excited about the design possibilities! If you click through to this article – you will see lots of glorious eye candy – some of which I guarantee you, will surprise you! See our website for lots of innovative ways to use this new shape, and a free pattern for the bracelet above! The Cali Bead The new Cali …

Take a Bow …

The new Bow beads – bigger than most of the shaped beads we’ve seen developed lately – and with lots of design possibilities far beyond bead weaving. Just look at these designs! This – for instance! I love the sort of tumbling look of the beads – and check out the instructions – it looks super easy to do! Click on the pattern to see the full size image. ? Here is a variation – more of a wavy river effect. And even wavier! You can see that this is made of modules, joined by large jumprings. What about the …

Czmate Diamonds, GemDuos & Beetle Wings

This week – we’re adding the Czechmate Diamonds to the shaped bead buffet. Unlike the GemDuos (and we have more of those too!) – these are a diamond shape with the hole running through the short axis – top to bottom if you like, although, once you turn them on their side to use them, it’s isn’t top to bottom any more. These have the same hole spacing as the other Czechmate 2 hole beads, although the hole (!) fun of these is seeing how you can make them fit together and create interesting patterns and textures. As I mentioned …

Pink and Pearls – the “Girly” Update

Almost no-one here at BeadFX will admit to being a “girly” girl. We rassle molten glass for fun, buy our own diamonds thenkewverrymuch, and stab things thousands of times with tiny little needles … we’re smart, funny, practical, and would rather have sandals than spike heels. That said – we still have a place in our hearts for pearls and pink … Such as 3 and 4 mm Glass Pearls. In colours ranging from pretty natural – to pretty cool – these small pearls can be spacers, or working into your bead weaving/shaped bead projects. You don’t even need to …
