Earlier we had posted about The Corsage Project and how they provide dresses, jewellery and other accessories for free for economically-challenged high school students so they can go to their prom in style. BeadFX volunteers, staff and customers were busy creating lots of blingy pieces of jewellery which were picked-up by Corsage Project volunteers to be sorted in time for the Boutique Ball. We have a number of NEW classes during the last half of April including a new Chinese knotting project with Angela Peace. Sweet-McNamara!  Amee uses Soutache and Bead Embroidery to create textile jewelry with sinuous, organic shapes in brilliant hues. She takes her inspiration from all things color-saturated. Mucha posters, Venetian glass, Renaissance paintings, and Hollywood dance-costumes have all, at one time or another, influenced her creations. We are proud to present four classes with metal artist and instructor Robyn Cornelius! Robyn owns and operates Little Rock Jewellery Studio in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She is an explorer of materials and techniques, and describes her jewellery as sculptural and colourful, with clever mechanics and rustic finishes. She has a degree in Jewellery and Metals from the Alberta College of Art and Design. Robyn as the ability to break what seems to be the most complicated project into workable steps that all can understand. Getting to Know…Genevieve Habib

You haven’t met Genevieve Habib as yet, so let me introduce you to our newest instructor! Genevieve is a bead artist living in the Niagara Region and has an incredible passion for beading. As an instructor, she is bringing us her enthusiasm for the Hubble stitch! Genevieve’s background was filled with creativity and skills passed to her by family members. How Much Difference Does a Bead Size Make?

Actually, quite a bit! As many of you know, I love seed beads and working with these small gems of colour. As we get new sizes and shapes of seed beads, Marg often gives me some and says, “See what you can do with these!” This time it was the Mini-Duo’s turn to be played and experimented with. Has this winter been like a lion or lamb for you? I guess it depends if you like the cold and snow!
