Falling Leaves

by: Rosemary Beasley When I saw the two strands of the “freeform” tiger iron, I was inspired by their “leafy” shape to make a necklace inspired by the fall season. The tiger iron is streaked with slate, rust and little hits of mustard yellow making me think of November skies and falling leaves. The glass leaves and 2mm pearls add a lightness contrasting with the darkness of the tiger iron. Components http://www.beadfx.com/inspirations/inspirations.php?id=878

Concrete & Rubies

Concrete & Rubies by: Anne Marie Desaulniers These Matte Crazy Lace Agate stones have been living side byside, on the BeadFX wall, just under the pearls. Ignored for months, but thenthey suddenly started clamouring for their potential to be reached! Concretegoes with everything, and my July birthstone is ruby!! Add some sparkle, then whatbetter way to marry the two, than with a chic and comfortable wrap bracelet. Apiece of this type, could even be worn as a short necklace, but I far preferthis variation as a standalone bracelet! Instructions: Dump all of your beads, into a nice pile on your …

Flora-Meta-Pendant Necklace by: Anne Marie Desaulniers I was wandering through the metal aisle, and thesecomponents just started screaming at me! Meditation Beads

Meditation Beads by: Dwyn Tomlinson Beads can be soothing and meditative from sorting and organizing to stringing and wearing. This set came from the happy combination of colours that just called out to me. The impression jasper is such a lovely colour and turquoise is always beautifully accented by shades of red. And, of course, black looks great with everything. 😉 By now, you should be familiar with my current obsession with simple stretchy bracelets. Use the elastic-needle to quickly make them up. I tie the opelon doubled for larger beads like these in a surgeon’s knot, and then cover …

InspirationFX: I want to Be-Leaf

InspirationFX Get your creative juices flowing I want to Be-Leaf by: Dwyn Tomlinson I want to Be-Leaf A simple pair of earrings so easy to make, but so satisfying and so elegant. These lightweight handmade glass leaves just call out to dangle and gleam with light passing through them. Being glass however, they are not so suitable as charms on a bracelet. Instead, make earrings. Just open the loop on the ear wire remember to twist to the side, not pull out and put the leaf on, and close up the earring. That’s it! That’s all there is to it! Add …

InspirationFX: Dragonfly Energy Bracelet

InspirationFX Get your creative juices flowing Dragonfly Energy Bracelet by: Dwyn Tomlinson Ever sit and watch dragonflies over a pond on a hot summer day? They move so fast ? they almost seem to disappear and reappear elsewhere. Backwards too ? no wonder they seem magical! Matching colours complement this Black and Gold Dragonfly, but you could pick your favourite colour dragonfly button and choose complementary pearls to go with it! Secret Tip. Copper Pipe Pendants

We initially published this post back in 2010 – it has been far and away our most commented on post ever. We share it with you again for those of you who haven’t seen it before! Initial post by Jennifer Tough A while back I picked up a book by Stephanie Lee called Semi-precious Salvage. I just love her designs, as I’m quite enamored with the vintage-y, rough, dug out of the dirt look. Mixed media jewellery is quite intriguing to me – and I plan to explore it more over the next little while. I’m really just scratching the …

Floating Rocks

InspirationFX – Get your creative juices flowing   by: Dwyn Tomlinson Rock it out with this floating rock creation! This project came together as an act of serendipity – happy coincidence. I had the sterling rocks on my table, thinking about a bracelet (which I also made, actually – sterling rocks with one lampwork bead, on stretchy elastic) and the Kaputt Pendant, with the bail, from the photo that I took for the website. And I thought that they looked really good together – and hey presto – next thing you know – I have this! You could make this without …

Tango in Tibet

InspirationFX Get your creative juices flowing Tango in Tibet by: Dwyn Tomlinson These super-cute bracelets have an eastern vibe, and are so easy to make – it will be hard to stop at just one. Clearly, I couldn’t. Vary them up with different bead choices and different button accents – we have lots to chose from! Using the Elastic-Cord-Needle, string your approx 7 inches of beads (depending on the length you want and size of the wrist you are making for), and add the button last. Hook the Elastic-Cord-Needle into the middle of an approximately 18 inch piece of stretchy …
