Shaggy Loops and Scales

May 10 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Cdn $40.00 +Kit fee: $20, payable to the instructor the day of the class.

Course outline: Shaggy Loops is a great way to start with chainmaille. With Gillian Clarke’s guidance, you will get practice in the basics of opening and closing jump rings, but, unlike most chainmaille, Shaggy Loops is forgiving of not-quite-perfect technique, so even your very first piece will be wonderfully wearable.

Once you have learned the basic weave you can get creative! We will show you how to add scales, beads, washers (or anything else with a hole) to make earrings and bracelets that range from slinky and glamourous to frankly fun.

Skill level: Beginner

Prerequisite: No experience is required. If you have already done some chainmaille projects, don’t overlook this because it is simple; the basic weave lends itself to oodles of creative possibilities.

Technique: Chainmaille

Bring to class: If you have your own pair of flat nosed pliers please bring them, but tools will be available in class. You may also bring any size 6/0 seed beads you particularly like, or buy them in the store.

Of special note: the class patterns and instructions from our classes are for your personal use only. Please respect the intellectual property of our artists/instructors by not sharing, selling, or teaching the patterns you receive from the classes you take.
