Fantastic Fuchsias

March 10, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Cdn $105.00

Course outline: Students will learn how to form lovely three dimensional fuchsia flowers from metal sheet (copper, brass, and silver are welcome). In the class with Christine Woollacott, students will use a jewellers saw frame to cut out petals they will then form into pendulous flower pendants or earrings. Students will have an opportunity to create a colourful heat patina on copper.

Skill level: Beginner/Intermediate

Prerequisite: Previous metal work experience is beneficial, but not required.

Technique: Metal Piercing and Forming. Optional heat patina of copper.

Bring to class:

  • Metal Sheet – at least 3 square inches of sheet per flower. The metal can be either 24ga copper or brass, or 24 or 26ga silver. A combination of metals would also be welcome, if you want to use a variety.
  • If you wish to use sterling silver and need to purchase it the day of the class, please indicate this at the time of registration.
  • Feel free to bring your personal jewellery tools such as a jewellers saw frame, and pliers (round nose, flat nose, and half round). There will be tools available for use during the class if you prefer or do not yet have your own.
  • 1 foot of 22ga or 24ga wire. I recommend either sterling silver, or uncoated copper.
  • Earring findings, jump rings, and accent beads such as 4mm Swarovski bicones, and 6mm Swarovski rounds are optional for finishing up the project.

Of special note: the class patterns and instructions from our classes are for your personal use only. Please respect the intellectual property of our artists/instructors by not sharing, selling, or teaching the patterns you receive from the classes you take.
