Floral Murrini Cane Workshop with visiting instructor Kim Fields (3 days)

Course outline: Learn to make a bouquet of beautiful floral canes and how to apply them to your beads. You should come away from this class knowing how to make all the components for each floral cane including different types of petals and stamens. Well also use a variety of reference materials for form and accuracy. Demonstrations will include making single and multi-petal floral cane. Techniques will include assembling canes, color mixing and overlays, heat control, pulling the cane to the desired thickness, and finally, application and encasement of floral murrini on beads.

Skill level: Intermediate

Prerequisite: Must have lampworking experience

Technique: Lampworking, creating canes

Bring to class: a tool list will be available closer to the class date.

Early Bird Special offer: Register on or before March 15 for only $600 plus HST. As of Friday, March 16, the class fee will be $675 plus HST.

  • Payment or a deposit is required in advance for registration. Payment may be made on-line at the time of registration or in-person at the store.
  • Some classes have associated kit fees, please check class details to see where applicable. Some kit fees are payable to the store, some to the instructor and may be cash only in that case.
  • For some studio classes, those using fire-breathing torches and fast spinny things a waiver must be signed acknowledging you have experience or training in their use, and we will ensure you have training to work safely!
  • Some classes have age requirements. Students MUST be 18 years or older in order to be able to take any of our lampworking, soldering, fusing, and some metalsmithing classes.

Class Cancellation Policy:

  • No refunds, credits or cancellations will be permitted for any class with a visiting celebrity instructor. Student substitutions may be made at the time of cancellation as long as prerequisite requirements are met, otherwise students on existing waiting lists will be contacted.
  • We may re-schedule or cancel classes if we do not receive the minimum number of bookings, or in case of bad weather or instructor illness. In this case, you will be notified and the fees will be refunded or issued as store credit.
