Introduction to Photopolymer Texture Plates

Course outline: With Christine Woollacott‘s guidance, students will learn how to create their own unique texture plates using a UV Photopolymer kit. Students will use opaque paint, paper, acetate, and other materials to create unique designs. Students will learn how their designs can be used to make reusable, deep texture plates. These versatile texture plates can be used for a variety of future projects, from paper stamping, to metal clay.

Skill level: All levels

Prerequisite: N/A

Technique: Create unique texture plates to use in future projects. These plates can be used for metal clay, polymer clay, paper craft, paint/ink stamping and any other time you can think of to use a texture!

Bring to class:

  • Art Clay Silver Photopolymer Sheet Stamp Kit
  • Fine paint brush
  • Sharpie pen
  • Design ideas
  • Optional: Decorative paper punches, stamps paired with opaque inkpads, doilies, paper cuts, etc. Anything relatively flat and opaque that can cast a good profile.

Of special note: the class patterns and instructions from our classes are for your personal use only. Please respect the intellectual property of our artists/instructors by not sharing, selling, or teaching the patterns you receive from the classes you take.

How to Register:

  • You may register by phone at (416) 751-1911, or in-person at our store.
  • Payment or a deposit is required in advance for registration.
  • Some classes have associated kit fees, please check class details to see where applicable. Some kit fees are payable to the store, some to the instructor and may be cash only in that case.
  • For some studio classes, those using fire-breathing torches and fast spinny things a waiver must be signed acknowledging you have experience or training in their use, and we will ensure you have training to work safely!
  • Some classes have age requirements. Students MUST be 18 years or older in order to be able to take any of our lampworking, soldering, fusing, and some metalsmithing classes.

Class Cancellation Policy:

  • If you need to cancel, please let us know 5 days prior to the class. Cancellations made later than that will forfeit the class deposit or fee.
  • We may re-schedule or cancel classes if we do not receive the minimum number of bookings, or in case of bad weather or instructor illness. In this case, you will be notified and the fees will be refunded or issued as store credit.

Students are eligible for our 15% student discount card! Get yours when you check-in for your class at the front desk. Please note that not all products are included in the program.
