Magnetic Metal Clay Brooch (2 days)

July 8 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Cdn $175.00

Course outline: In this versatile project workshop with Liz Reynolds, you will learn how to construct a layered brooch that can also double a pendant attached to chain. This project embeds a rare-earth magnet on the back, allowing you to attach it to clothing without poking holes. We will also explore adding subtle colour using diachroic powder.

Caution: this workshop is not appropriate for anyone using a pacemaker.

This is a two-day class and will take place on Sunday, July 8, 11:00 – 5:00pm; and Sunday, July 15, 12:00 – 2:00pm.

Skill level: Beginner

Prerequisite: Some experience with metal clay is helpful, but not required.

Technique: Constructing a layered brooch, compatible texturing, constructing magnet holder on reverse, patinaing with liver-of-sulphur (LOS), applying diachronic powder.

Bring to class: 20 grams of Sterling (960) silver clay or Prometheus Sterling White Bronze. Metal clay tools if you have them or they will be provided by BeadFX.

Of special note: the class patterns and instructions from our classes are for your personal use only. Please respect the intellectual property of our artists/instructors by not sharing, selling, or teaching the patterns you receive from the classes you take.
