BeadFX Comprehensive Summer Course: Metal Clay Intensive using Hadar’s Clay or Prometheus Clay (4 days)

August 15 @ 11:00 am - August 18 @ 5:00 pm

Cdn $345.00

Course outline: Instead of a specific Metal Clay project, this series of classes with Liz Reynolds will focus on a range of techniques, enabling you to expand your personal metal clay repertoire. Note: classes will take place Tuesday, August 15 through Friday, August 18; 11:00am – 5:00pm daily.

This series of classes will breakdown as follows, with plenty of overlap and expansion:

Day 1: An overview of metal clay variations (powdered and pre-mixed); conditioning and storing; textures – commercially available and make-your-own (molds/scratch foam); doming and attaching; simple bails.

Day 2: Hollow form variations, advanced bails; drilling and framing.

Day 3: Snakes, syringe, extrusion (including powered by a CO2 tank); incorporating bezels with fireable stones; embellishments; kiln firing 101 and troubleshooting;

Day 4: Polishing and patina; finishing any projects in progress.

Learning good habits and techniques for working with metal clay will allow you to get the most out of your investment in this still fairly new material, and decrease frustrations. Understanding your material and working with it properly frees your creativity. Also, if there is a specific technique that you’re finding problematic, this is the class to have it addressed.
