Cataraqui Guild of Needle Arts

The Cataraqui Guild of Needle Arts is a non-profit group that received its charter from the Embroiderers’ Association of Canada in June 2002. Since that time the membership has steadily grown to its current level with members coming from a diverse mix of backgrounds and skill levels.

The Cataraqui Guild of Needle Arts:

  • meets on the first and third Monday of the month, September to June, from 9:30am to 3:30pm at Edith rankin United Church, 4080 Bath road, Kingston, ON
  • has summer stitch-ins arranged by members for July and August
  • has a quarterly newsletter
  • has two-day workshops twice a year
  • has a lending library of books
  • has an annual membership fee of $70 which includes a $40 fee for membership in the national organization, the Embroiderers’ Association of Canada (EAC).
    This provides:

    • the national newsletter “Embroidery Canada” published quarterly
    • opportunity to enroll in the annual national seminar held in a different province each year at which intensive 2 and 4 day courses are taught by top teachers in their field.
    • opportunity to take correspondence or online courses either as an individual or as part of a group within the guild.

How to Register:

  • You may register by phone at (416) 751-1911, or in-person at our store.
  • Payment or a deposit is required in advance for registration.
  • Some classes have associated kit fees, please check class details to see where applicable. Some kit fees are payable to the store, some to the instructor and may be cash only in that case.
  • For some studio classes, those using fire-breathing torches and fast spinny things a waiver must be signed acknowledging you have experience or training in their use, and we will ensure you have training to work safely!
  • Some classes have age requirements. Students MUST be 18 years or older in order to be able to take any of our lampworking, soldering, fusing, and some metalsmithing classes.

Class Cancellation Policy:

  • If you need to cancel, please let us know 5 days prior to the class. Cancellations made later than that will forfeit the class deposit or fee.
  • We may re-schedule or cancel classes if we do not receive the minimum number of bookings, or in case of bad weather or instructor illness. In this case, you will be notified and the fees will be refunded or issued as store credit.
