Iris Rogers Melamed

iris_photo-for-profile-bio-300wIris began beading about 15 years ago. From there she moved on to chainmaille, wire work, metal clay and ultimately metal work. She is constantly looking for new opportunities to learn more about working with metal to share with her students. Iris has studied with Michael David Sturlin giving her a great foundation in technique and design. She continues to develop her own skills by studying with renowned metalsmiths and jewelers including Susan Lenart Kazmer, Tim McCreight, Pauline Warg, and Cynthia Eid.

Inspired by nature, colours of stones and the malleability of metals, Iris actively records ideas to use in her class.

Iris’ advice to others? “I have two favourite saying that continue to inspire me: ‘Success is the? ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm’ (Winston Churchill), and ‘You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.’ (Maya Angelou).”
