Liz Reynolds


Liz has a creative background in pottery and textiles. She discovered metal clay in 2004 and was thrilled by the idea of translating textile patterns and textures onto clay, and then transforming the clay into metal. She has studied with local artists and internationally known metal clay masters including Hadar Jacobson and Wanaree Tanner.?She is an Accredited Hadars Clay Instructor, one of very few in Canada, and has been teaching since 2010.

Her jewelry is sold in Ontario and Quebec.

Hollow Forms in Metal Clay (2 days)

Course outline: The strongest form in nature is the sphere and in this workshop you'll learn why, and how to make non-sphere forms just as strong. You'll learn how to construct an internal architecture that prevents hollow shapes from sagging. Included are two variations on constructing regular hollow forms (squares, rectangles, circles) as well as using irregular shapes, such as stones, to create asymmetrical hollow forms. Course outline: Powdered Metal Clay has an indefinite shelf life, but some find mixing it up a bit challenging. It's not difficult, but there is a process that should be followed for best results. Sterling Silver Adjustable Rings

Course outline: In this class with Liz Reynolds you will learn two methods of ring construction in sterling silver metal clay ? (1) formed in the wet state, and (2) designed, textured and fired flat and formed around a mandrel after firing. You will also learn appropriate ring textures and embellishments, as well as adjusting for clay shrinkage rates. How to Register:

  • You may register on-line through the form above, or by phone at (416) 751-1911, or in-person at our store.
  • Payment is required in advance for registration and may be done on-line at the time of registration or in-person at the store.
  • Some classes have associated kit fees, please check class details to see where applicable. Some kit fees are payable to the store, some to the instructor and may be cash only in that case.
  • For some studio classes, those using fire-breathing torches and fast spinny things a waiver must be signed acknowledging you have experience or training in their use, and we will ensure you have training to work safely!
  • Some classes have age requirements. Students MUST be mature and responsible to work safely to be allowed to take some of our lampworking, soldering, fusing, and some metalsmithing classes.

Class Cancellation Policy:

  • If you need to cancel, please let us know 5 days prior to the class. Cancellations made later than that will forfeit the class deposit or fee.
  • We may re-schedule or cancel classes if we do not receive the minimum number of bookings, or in case of bad weather or instructor illness. In this case, you will be notified and the fees will be refunded or issued as store credit.
