Course outline: This class with Liz Kennedy is an introduction to line fold forming of metal. You will make the folds and hammer your metal then anneal it with a torch so it can be opened. Shears will be used to cut the metal into the shapes you design. You will trim file and buff the pieces. If desired a patina can be applied. Fold Formed Leaf Pendant

Course outline: Instructor Liz Kennedy will introduce you to fold forming sheet metal and various commonly used metalwork techniques. Shears will be used to cut the leaf shape you design. You will be hammering the sheet metal to form curves and texture. You will anneal the piece, using a torch. You will trim file and buff the piece. Course outline: In this class with Iris Rogers Melamed, we will explore techniques of soldering and forming sheet metal and wire. We will start by discussing methods of measurement for bangles, both from metal sheet and different forms of wire. We will then construct and finish the base bangle from copper sheet that is 16 mm to 19 mm wide. Design decisions will be made regarding texture and types of metal to use. Starting with a strip of sterling silver sheet, we will design a wide band ring that is flared at the edges to contain a moving wire ring. At each stage of this project we will explore the technical skills required for the successful completion of this ring.
