InspirationFX: Peachy Keen Jelly Bean

Peachy Keen Jelly Bean Designed by: Chelle Kilmer I wanted to take a twist on something classic. Pearls are classic and I love them. Natural and organic freshwater pearls, Swarovski pearls in their near perfectness, even teeny, tiny, glass pearls! Have you checked out our 2mm glass pearls? They come in the most amazing colour selection and such a perfect size for almost every project. I truly believe there might actually be a pearl for every occasion! But this time around it was the twisted Swarovski pearls that caught my eye! A soft, warm, peachy glow beckoned me over to …

InspirationFX: Simplicity in Red – Two

Simplicity in Red – Two Designed by: Anne Marie Desaulniers Though minimalist in style, this set will create quite the impact! A compliment to the “Simplicity in Red” necklace, that was posted a few weeks ago. As the holidays tend to be busy, it’s important to have something simple, to accessorize either that little black dress, or a cozy sweater, and pair of jeans. A fairly economical solution, as you will be using many of those leftover components from the earlier “Inspiration”. You will need to buy another package of the lovely Scarlet faceted rounds though! Instructions: 1. For Bracelet …

Snake Wind and Snake Berry

We’re not above the occasional fart joke around here – and I have to admit, when I saw that these beads were called Snake Wind, well – I’ll just let you imagine what streets my mind wandered down. Snake, however, is actually the name for the finish that gives it the darkened edges to the facets, giving the beads a distinctive scaled look. The Berry mix is obvious – and Wind, well, why not? They are part of the new 4mm fire polish beads this week, including the Nebula finish, and these metallics. And this Fuchsia! I have to admit …

InspirationFX: Dragonfly Stack

Dragonfly Stack Designed by: Dwyn Tomlinson The greens and golds of these remind me of those big zoomy dragonflies from when I was a kid. The Scarabeous green is a bright metallic insect green at some angles -and at some angles and lighting, more gold or purple highlights. They are fascinating to play with. Combined with the gold stardust beads! Just fabulous! I wanted to play with a new product – the Elastic Cord Needle. I thought for sure that this was going to be a swing and a miss in terms of new products (you should see the pliers …

Growing Pendants, Bezels, Flowers

The stunning new Swarovski “Growing” Pendants – inspired by crystal-encrusted druzies are here. Swarovski has really hit a home run with these – they are really quite wonderful! The largest of the Rhombus has a open space in the center – making it even more of an homage to natural stone! By themselves, with a bail – they will make a wonderful pendant, the smallest of the rectangles will make stunning earrings – or you can bead or string something to accent the colours and texture. Bezels – more bezels for your resining pleasure. Our Anne Marie is addicted to …

InspirationFX: Simplicity in Red

~ ~ ~ Get your creative juices flowing ~ ~ ~ Simplicity in Red Designed by: Anne Marie Desaulniers There are times when life gets complicated, and you need a little simplicity in your life! A study in contrasts …

This week – we are all about the contrast. I’ve been watching a lot of Bob Ross videos lately (The Joy of Painting series on PBS in the 80’s and 90’s – if you haven’t watched them – don’t let what you’ve heard put you off.) Anyway – one of the things he says repeatedly is that you have to have the dark to show the light. Or vice versa. The point is, that you need contrast to emphasis your design, your image, your story. Creativity is about contrasts. (Good article here about creative people and how they sometimes make …

InspirationFX: Mocca Honey Bunny

Mocca Honey Bunny Designed by: Dwyn Tomlinson This delicious, super sparkly bracelet is quick and easy to make, beautiful, if a little on the pricey side. It looks like a spiral pattern, but that’s just a result of alternating colors. Use a big eye needle or a twisted wire needle. String alternating colors. Make it about an inch longer than your ideal length, as the size of the beads makes the bracelet smaller on the inside than you might expect.   Components Go to our components list for this project and to buy what you need! Need some help with …

InspirationFX: Jack-O-Lantern

Get your creative juices flowing ~ ~ ~ Jack-O-Lantern Designed by: Erin Singleton With 3 days to go before Halloween it’s getting pretty hard to tell if your neighbours have been decorating or were the victims of a grizzly murder. In the evening, ghosts sway from tree branches while jack-o-lanterns flicker their orange glow from porch after front porch. To help get in the spirit, without all the cobwebs and caution tape, we’ve come up with this ghoulish necklace. A Swarovski skull dangles from a strand of matte black river stone while bead caps and bicones mimic the orange fire …
