InspirationFX: The Sassy Tassel Bracelet

~~~Get your creative juices flowing The Sassy Tassel Bracelet by: Dwyn Tomlinson I initially started making these from gemstone strands that come with silk tassels – then I realized that with the silk tassels we have for sale – you can get the same fun look with other beads! You can use a simpler clasp if you like, but I think that it really makes the piece, although a small magnetic clasp might be easier if you struggle with bracelet clasps. Check our Manager Specials for clasps. The bracelet is straight-foward stringing. Reserve two beads for the tassels. (For the …
Laser Cut Leather, Druzy Pendants, The REALLY BIG Jig
Laser cut leather – 20 mm and 10 mm strips of leather with intricate cut patterns! Wear as is, or use as a base to weave, stitch or sew on beads to embellish. Freeform Druzy pendants – Agate or Chalcedony druzies – metallic colors – with a horizontal hole – ready to string, or be part of a more elaborate design. 2016 in Review!
And so, we begin the countdown to 2017 – ring out the old, ring in the new. Top Ten Fabulous new things at BeadFX in 2016 that you might have missed New Website Of course – one of the most notable things that was new this year was the new website. We updated for a more streamlined look that put more emphasis on the beads and was more responsive and mobile-friendly! Ancient Symbols and the End of the Wait for the Endless Loom!
  Venus and Mars are alright tonight! Swarovski’s offerings of these ancient symbols – Venus (yes – I photo’d them upside down, sorry) – the circle with a cross – used in Astrology for Venus, in Alchemy for Copper, and in Biology for female. The male glyph, a circle with an upward pointing arrow – because, as it was euphemistically explained to me once – “Gentlemen go to heaven” – ha! – represents, Mars, Iron and maleness. What is especially nice is with these smaller ones – 18 mm – we also have mounts with rings so that you can …
Colour your Art!
I’ve never really been a trend follower, but sometimes it’s interesting to see what the runway gods predict that we will be wearing in the coming seasons (colours, styles, etc.). It always seems to be open to interpretation. After all, we are artists in our own right, and as such originals, so there is no real need to blindly follow the masses! Perhaps I should soften that approach! When I Googled jewellery trends for 2017, it gave me both fall/winter 2016, and spring 2017. It appears that we will all be wearing rhinestones and sparkly stuff (thank you Swarovski), oodles …
What do you do with a pile of beads?
Perhaps I should title this “What’s on my worktable this week?”.  The story begins with a couple of piles of beads.  Where it ends, who knows??? Do your beads talk to you?  Mine do!!  I’m not really crazy, but I do have this awful tendency to buy beads and bits, and then just let them age in the bag, until my muse decides how she’s going to use them.  Does that ever happen to you?  Let start with the red Swarovski leaves…. I’ve been eyeing these leaves, ever since I spotted them on the sale rack at BeadFX. Hmmm, 40% …
A Bevy of Bezels
Today, we’re going to chat about the wonderful world of metal bezels!  As you can see from the photographs, BeadFX has quite an extensive collection, which is great for aspiring mixed media artists (all that metallic bounty in one place)!  I’ll let you in on a secret though; you don’t really need to know anything about mixed media, to use these remarkable products. Bezels are versatile, and suitable for an endless variety of uses. We even carry the popular Susan Lenart Kazmer, Hobnail bezels and the Klick line of interchangeable components. Believe it or not, I haven’t tried everything yet, …
The Sparkle Report: Quilting
Here at BeadFX, we attract lots of multicraft afficiandos: knitters, crocheters, sewers and quilters, just to name a few.  Today is the last day of the 20% off Swarovski Hotfix sale and Kim Workman came in to take full advantage! Kim is a member of the York Heritage Quilter’s Guild. She’s currently working on a Spiraling Line Star quilt designed by  Jan P Krentz wanted to brighten up the darker spots of the quilt. Actually, it was her son’s idea, but who can refuse sparkle? Not I, and obviously, not Kim!! There are still two more layers to be made which will …
