Sapphire is the September birthstone, and while sapphire is a variety of Corundum, and can actually be any colour, except red - as red sapphires are called Rubies - Sapphires and Rubies actually being the same stone.

However, for this purpose - we interpret sapphire to mean a medium blue, neither too dark nor too light, nor too green (like teal or aqua) nor too purple (like tanzanite).

This lovely bracelet is Marg's creation - using St Petersburg Chain stitch, the instructions for which are here if you like.
