When folding the leather crimps down over the suede lacing, don't cut it to length until after you have the crimp properly squashed down. It is much easier to hold in place when you have the extra length, you can hold the "tail" and keep tension on the suede to keep it in the channel while you are crimping.

If you have troubles getting the stiff sides of the crimp to fold over, use the outer curves in your crimp pliers to help get the angle right so you can start the fold. Once it is started - it is easy enough to finish.

As made, this is a lengthy 40 inches - opera length. You may make it shorter if you prefer.
