I've been meaning to make a ribbon necklace for a while now, and had I known about the fabulous silks that just came in this week, I probably would have used those. However, I do have a huge love affair with the wire mesh. This necklace is a beautiful mix antique copper, and the subtle metal shimmer of the lace.
This necklace is made in three parts. First, string and knot the rose quartz beads onto the 1mm lace. I then tied the lace onto two pieces of chain.
Attach the clasp using the jump rings.
I used about a full meter of the wider wire lace. Cut it into two pieces. On each side starting where the beads attach to the chain - tie a knot, then wind the wire lace around the chain a few times, then tie another knot at the top. Cut off the excess, and do the same for the other side. You'll have a bit extra lace, and with those pieces tie a bow around the knot. I purposely made each bow a different size, as I felt it looked better that way.
I really like the look, and it needs just the right outfit - but it would make a fabulous summer necklace.
