The evolution of these was quite involved - I had in mind something with an egg shaped bead hanging from a chain - but I couldn't find anything that the shape really pleased me. As I wandered around the store - one of my best ways of coming up with ideas - I spotted these "Gooseberry" beads. Ha! - I thought - Geese a Layin' - Gooseberries! Cackle Berries!

I'd been wanted to use these big Vintaj bead caps, and this looked like a good choice. I got everything home, and started assembling it, intending the bead cap to go at the top, like leaves, and the gooseberry bead to hang down, like a fruit coming down out of the leaves. But the bead cap on the bead kept reminding me of a goofy dude with a bad toupee. Plus the curved tips of the bead caps sticking out bugged me.

So I flattened out the curved tips by gently hammering them down - just one good tap did it for each curved piece. I did it on the bead to get the shape right.

I hung it with the caps at the bottom, so they look more like acorns - and destroying the toupee illusion. The crystal at the bottom prevents the headpin from falling through the hole in the bead, which is quite sizeable.

Although large, the resin bead is fairly light and these are ok to wear.
