My inspiration for this piece came from my interest in juxtaposing materials you may not  always think of putting together. I liked the idea of using Freshwater Pearls, which have a classic and timeless feel to them and the Pyrite, which is a bit rough and also known as Fools' Gold. Both have very different stereotypes about them and not always incorporated in one piece together. From here I sat down and played to come up with this design. I hope you enjoy it!!

How to:

1. On the eyepin string a 3mm Round , the Pyrite Coin and another 3mm Round. Make a loop.

2. On a headpin string a 3mm Round, a Pyrite Oval and another 3mm Round. Make a loop. Do this 2 more times, for a total of 3 ovals on 3 different headpins.

3. Attach one of the Pyrite Ovals to the Pyrite Coin using a 4mm Jumpring.

4. Cut a piece of Softflex about 1.5 feet long. String the Freshwater Pearls on with some 3mm Rounds and the Pyrite Ovals and Round.

I did a pattern of 1 Round, 4 pearls, 1 round, an oval on the headpin, 1 round 4 pearls, 1 round 3 pearls, 1 round , the round and oval piece, 1 round 3 pearls, 1 round, 4 pearls, 1 round, the last oval on a headpin, 1 round, 4 pearls, and 1 round.

5. Finish the ends with a wire guardian and a flattened crimp. Cut off the excess Softflex.

6. Cut a second piece of Softflex about 1 .5 feet long. String more pearls and rounds.

I did 1 round, 2 pearls, 1 round, 4 pearls, 1 round, 2 pearls, etc…

7. Finish these ends with wire guardians and a flattened crimp. Cut off the excess Softflex.

8. With a 7mm Jumpring, attach 1 end of each of the pearl strands we just made and an end of the Etched Cable Chain.

9. Do the same for the other end.

I like long necklaces, and ones that can slip over your head, like this one. If you would like it shorter you can use 1 foot of chain with a clasp.

Now your Pirates Treasure necklace is done.
