Coach Lantern Earrings

When I showed up with the Bling Bling Bracelet - it wasn't long before someone said "You need earrings to go with that." Of course! So here are the earrings.

Getting the rondelles to fit together nicely -- and stay lined up -- was the challenge, but the solution is really quite a neat little trick. Scroll down and I'll show you how it is done.

Supplies needed

2 sterling headpins, with decorative ends
4 x 6mm Squaredelles
4 x 8mm Squaredelles
2 x 8 mm Swarovski cubes - Crystal AB
4 x 3mm sterling balls (this is the secret!)
2 sterling earwires of your choice
2 x 4mm Swarovski rounds - Crystal AB

Tools needed

Round nose pliers
crimp pliers
chain nose pliers

Making the Earring

Assemble the components in following order on the headpin

6 mm squaredelle
3 mm sterling round
8 mm squaredelle
8 mm cube
8 mm squaredelle
3 mm sterling round
6 mm squaredelle
4 mm round

The 3 mm sterling round sits invisibly between the squardelles, but keeps them aligned and from sliding from side to side. A smaller bead doesn't keep them aligned, a larger one will show and push the squaredelles apart.

Create a wrapped loop at the end. See here for instructions. Use the crimp pliers to help tuck the end of the wire in.

Twist open the ring on the earwires (twist to the side, not pull open) and add the earring dangle.

Voila!
