Bail Out, Itsy Bitsy Coins

Nope – we’re not changing our business model here. It’s just that this week, we have TierraCast Bails for your pendant-hanging pleasure, and 4mm Diamond Cut Faceted Stone Coins – which is a bit of a mouthful. Bails – a bail is a loop to hang something or hold it. That wire handle on a bucket – that’s the bail. These bails are for hanging pendants, from crystal pendants to whatever you want to dangle. It’s tough to quantify what a bail will fit on, and most of them are pretty flexible in terms of working for more than one …

Too Beautiful for Words

Sometimes, I feel like the beads in an update really don’t need me to say anything other than – here, have at them. This is one of those updates. I’m going to start with these – Terra Agate. These big barrel beads – I keep thinking they look like lampwork beads. They are so gorgeous, and so individual – they look hand-crafted. Chrysocolla – it’s no secret I love chrysocolla, and judging from the way it flies out the door, I’m thinking a fair number of you do too! Mind you – Lapis has been known to be my fave …

Skinny Leather: What do you do with it?

Let’s talk about skinny leather? No, not leather that’s been put on a diet, but a pretty cool jewelry making supply! I’m not sure what your definition of skinny leather is, but mine encompasses both round, and flat leather, and even leather and suede lacings. Now the question is, what the heck do you do with it? Leather can be both casual, and dressy! Pair it with stones for a more casual look, or bling it out to make a real statement! I love to wear my leather, Chan Luu style, wrap bracelet with jeans (no, I didn’t make it, …

Planting Seeds of Creativity

It’s that time of year when we clean out the garden and start to select greenery to plant. Spring is also an ideal time of year to shake the winter cobwebs from our imagination and look for inspiration to get our creativity flowering again. Can you stimulate creativity? Yes – everyone can become more creative! I like to use the camera feature of my phone to snap colour ideas from clothes in a store or patterns and textures on walls and pavement. Ideas exist everywhere. I have no idea what I’ll use the photos for, but it may spark a …

Do we have Bezels? – Yes we have Nunn

We’d give you the stars and the moon and the sun – but we have Nunn. Nunn Designs that is! Are you a fan of the lovely creations of Nunn Designs? We are – and especially our mixed-media-fiend Anne Marie, who is little bit like that kid that is always, “Mommy, mommy – can we get some of these?” Good thing she has good taste! So we have new shapes in bezels, for those of you who like to resin-ate. Fingernail Earring Findings – if you haven’t seen these, you might be a bit confused. They are designed to hold …

Long and Luscious: For the ears, of course!

It’s pretty bad when you start dreaming of long and luscious, seedbead earrings! I don’t have a lot of experience wearing long earrings, but I think that I’m tempted to try. My only real exposure to long earrings, were those giant Sterling Silver hoops, that I used to wear, and my freeform peyote earrings (I’ve even taught a class about them, but probably not on the schedule until the summer). Other than that, my earrings have been fairly subdued. I have been known to wear a pair, with single stones on a long chain, but other than that, nada! Even …

Discover: Beading on a Loom

According to sources, loom beading is an invention of North American First Nations groups; however, cultures around the world feature beaded designs done on a beading loom. Fast-forward to today and you’ll find a myriad of bead looms in all shapes and sizes constructed out out a variety of materials, including wood, metal pipe, wire and plastic. You can loom round seed beads, cylinder beads and 2-hole beads; all will give you different effects. In spite of all the differences, all bead looms work the same: Warps are created down the length of the loom; the more columns of beads …
