My October 2019 bead mat update involves both work, and discretionary spending. Other than that, I haven’t been all that creative this month!
But I certainly hope that changes soon, because how can I be a bead muse, if my inspiration is suspiciously missing? Yet no real loss, as I’m positive that it will change shortly!!!
Last weekend, Amanda P. and I represented BeadFX at the Grand River Bead Society, annual show and sale, in Guelph, ON. The show was great, the weather wonderful, but the traffic on the 401 was miserable! Yet we still had fun, as it’s always rewarding to make contacts, new friends, and meet up with others that you’ve known for a while. Contacts are a big part of these shows, as they are certainly a valuable way to grow your business.
Marginally, October 2019 bead mat update related, but we had to do a little shopping at the show! I don’t have any photos of Amanda’s purchases, but here are mine!
I love the vintage findings from Naomi, at Black Tulip Designs, so had to indulge!
Meredith from CB Supply brought along these wonderful silk skeins. I will be using them for embroidery. Aren’t they luscious, but even better, they were on sale!
Sailorgirl Jewelry normally sells only finished jewelry, but she was at this show with some lovely merchandise. Catherine was selling off some of her older lampwork, other glass beads, and silver bits and bobs! Of course, I gravitated towards the silver!! I was thinking of accenting a few stone bracelets with them, but now I’m tempted to make a solid silver one instead. I think that I have enough beads! But if not, I know where to find her!
I won my silent auction bid, for a pair of Sailorgirl earrings (sorry Marilyn Gardiner). Catherine graciously allowed me to switch the silent auction ones, for these. Aren’t they lovely?
The lady who owns Karibu Beads (she sells Kazuri Beads) is retiring, so I purchased these at 30% off. Last year, I bought some of the same aqua/gold beads, but not enough to do much. Now I’m closer to my goal!!
I couldn’t miss picking up this fabulous piece of Amazonite, from Amanda H. at Earthy Girl Designs! It feels so good in my hand!
Amanda P. and I demonstrated Artist’s Concrete at the show, but don’t worry, I’ll be teaching it again on November 16th. Soon these will get treated with a spritz of acrylic spray, then a coat of resin, to protect them from smudging!
Wait! I did do a little beading in October!!! I’m working on another sample for my November “Bezelling a Cabochon 101” class. Too many interruptions to get much solid beading done, but I do like how it’s shaping up. I absolutely love the colour!!! It could be a pendant, brooch, or I could incorporate it into a beaded cuff!!
Well, that’s it for my October 2019 bead mat update! What are you currently working on, and is there anything you would like to show?
