If you are camping out in the winter …
waiting for the coming spring
desperately in need of some bright pops of color
because color is your thing
You stroll into your local bead store
And there you just hope to spy
something bright and shiny and filled with promise
and these Terra beads catch your eye
And you know that colors cheer you,
and they lift your mood to the sky
And you have a good feeling about the year to come
Even though it is called …
The Year of the Rat … *
If you are as feeling ratty about 6 more weeks of winter as I am, and I don’t care if you stick “only” in front of it, then you can picture how I felt about an announcement from our supplier about new, intense colors of seedbeads. (Especially with my new-found appreciation for seedbeads!)
Ok, they are nice, polished wood colors of brown.
Anyway – we got in all the colors they had, and will pick up the rest of the 10/0s when they become available. The 6/0s are also available in the “ambitious project size” (500gr, about a pound) should you so desire. Just in case. We have lots of the Czech seedbeads available in the factory packs as a matter of fact, for those knitted purses, beaded dresses, wall tapestries, etc.
And, in all fairness – the year of the rat is supposed to auspicious, and the rat is seen as smart and quick and problem-solving.
In fact – here are some solutions to problems.
This is a nifty fold-up light and magnifier combo. You can keep it on your desk for needle-threading, take it over to the couch for beading while t.v. bingeing, pop it in your bag for bead adventures like a class or a weekly get-together. Or put it in your purse to take to restaurants if you want to make a statement about the readability of their menu. 😉
And this is a highly specialized and utterly brilliant solution to a problem that you didn’t know you had. The Whaley Ring Gauge allows you to cut perfectly sized ring stock in a variety of thicknesses, in any metal, eliminating the need for charts or complicated formulas! Perfect 3 minute explanatory video on YouTube.
And while we are on the topic of metal – some metal shears perhaps? Designed for cutting up to 20 gauge soft metal.
And one more thing on the topic of metal. We have lots of metal blanks for stamping and bracelets and etc. But these are just 1 1/2 inches by 1/4 inches. (38x6mm). So you can put hole in them and hang them, dangle them, use them as charms, tags, links. Enamel. Etch. Stamps. ?
Or, if you need an earring back that makes big earrings more comfortable …
try these. The bigger surface area spreads out the weight of the earring on your ear and makes them less pinchy. Also, they are easier to find if you drop them. Available in pairs, or the 100-piece-dammit-I’m-converting-all-of-my-earrings pack.
Valentine’s Day – gifts for everyone on the list
The what? I just found an article that claims to help you find the perfect gift for everyone on your Valentine’s day list. What the heck? After I graduated from the “everyone in your class gets a card, regardless of whether you like them or not” stage – Valentine’s day was for your “significant” person. The only significant person. Giving Valentine’s gifts to other people would have been weird, creepy and inappropriate. Oh sure, anyone that you might randomly give a gift to, like your mom or favorite sister – but seriously? Now it is lists? You want to know why we have so much stuff? Marketing! Which … would be what I am doing right now.
I am so conflicted.
25% off Hearts – from now until Valentines day
Hearts. 25% off Hearts. Hearts, do you hear me! Hearts. (Last week, someone gave me the gears for not being specific enough about that.)
But don’t feel obligated to give them to your boss, the UPS driver, or the furnace repair person. Unless, of course, you have a thing for them. In which case, knock yourself out. 😉
(I just learned about “Galentine’s Day.” Celebrate the gal pals that support you and help you blow off steam. Once again, I am poised between awe and wonder at the brilliance of it, and the horror of the blatant marketing of it.)
