Calla Lily Pendant

Course outline: This class with Liz Kennedy is an introduction to cutting a shape and bending metal to make a 3-dimensional pendant from a flat piece of metal sheet. You will use wire to add a bead and form a bail. To finish, you will trim, file and buff the pieces. If desired a patina can be applied.

Skill level: Beginner

Prerequisite: N/A

Technique: Making a 3-dimensional pendant from a flat piece of sheet metal. Bending, hammering and texturing the metal. Finishing the metal; annealing metal using a torch if required. Attaching a bead and making a wire bail. Applying patina to metal.

Bring to class:

  • Ear protection
  • Chain or cord for hanging their pendant.
  • If they have them: Metal shears, chain nose, flat nose and round nose pliers, flush cutter, leather or rubber mallet.
  • Ruler, thin Sharpie marker
  • Planishing or ball pein hammer, bail making pliers. Some of these will be available for use by students if they do not have them.

Kit Fee:

Kit Includes:
3”x3” inch (7.5 cm X 7.5 cm) piece of 24 gauge copper sheet. A large (15 – 20 mm) bead, 12” (30 cm) of 20 or 22 gauge copper wire. Instructor tools during class time.

  • Payment is required in advance for registration and may be done on-line at the time of registration or in-person at the store.
  • Some classes have associated kit fees, please check class details to see where applicable. Some kit fees are payable to the store, some to the instructor and may be cash only in that case.
  • For some studio classes, those using fire-breathing torches and fast spinny things a waiver must be signed acknowledging you have experience or training in their use, and we will ensure you have training to work safely!
  • Some classes have age requirements. Students MUST be mature and responsible to work safely to be allowed to take some of our lampworking, soldering, fusing, and some metalsmithing classes.

Class Cancellation Policy:

  • If you need to cancel, please let us know 5 days prior to the class. Cancellations made later than that will forfeit the class deposit or fee.
  • We may re-schedule or cancel classes if we do not receive the minimum number of bookings, or in case of bad weather or instructor illness. In this case, you will be notified and the fees will be refunded or issued as store credit.
