Class Shenanigans: How to wile away a weekend!

The class shenanigans certainly made last weekend very lively. I hosted two full classes at BeadFX, now I’m exhausted, but it was well worth it!! First up, my Needle Felted Landscape class, which is an escape into creative freedom. Mix imagination, colour, stabbing out the frustrations of the day, then sprinkle in some hand embroidery, and a few beads! Pure bliss!! I can’t speak for my students, but judging from their comments, enthusiasm, and results, a good day was definitely had by all! I worked on this demo during the class, then finished it off after I got home. I …

Denim Dreams: What do they mean to you?

I believe that denim dreams are a state of mind! We wear them, we love them, but do we accessorize them? Now, that is the question? I know that denim dreams come in many colours, but I’ll refer to the blue variety, for this blog post! I grew to love it in my school days, so that’s what I’m going to talk about today!! Today’s denim is a heck of a lot more comfortable (but we were kids, so what the heck did we know?), and you can even buy them with ragged holes!! In my day, you needed to …

Okay, beads on their own are undoubtedly delicious, but there’s an added something special, when you stitch them onto felt. No, not craft felt silly, but richly textured wool felt! It’s absolutely delightful!!! I love working with wool felt! It started off with a simple, wet felting play date with friends! Then I combined some of those pieces with fibre, beads, free motion, and hand stitching. A few were sold, but others remain in my possession. Pre-beading obsession, if you please! This piece of felt was …

May 2018 Bead Mat Update: Two steps back, one step forward!

My May 2018 bead mat update signals a return to my roots. Fibre has always been my first love, and I must admit that I’m enjoying the process immensely. Did my Stitch Meditations have anything to do with my current obsession with fibre? I certainly expect so! What if I combined fibre, beads, embroidery, felting, and natural elements? Isn’t that what I’m all about? My muse was whispering insistently, so I just had to shut her up!! This stitched stone has been sitting on the sidelines for a while, but I decided to finish it off with freeform peyote, just …
