Plique-a-jour with Fine Silver Metal Clay (2 days)

Course outline: Plique-a-jour is a style of enamelling that uses a delicate metal framework to support free areas of transparent glass. Because plique-a-jour has no metal backing, it is visually similar to a stained glass window. While this technique is beautiful, it is arguably the most challenging form of enamelling. In this class, students will create fine silver frames for plique-a-jour using metal clay. Multiple approaches to enamel application will be covered.
