What makes an artist an artist?

Is “what makes an artist an artist” a fair question? How is an artist defined, and who exactly is an artist? An artist is someone who makes art! But then, how do you define art? Do you need a particular set of skills, or formal training to make art, or is it just something you can just call yourself? What if someone else calls you an one? Does that make it so? Designing with Components: A different approach!

Is designing with components a new way of looking at things? It’s not entirely new for me, because I’ve been making components for years. However, I don’t exactly use all of the components that I’ve made. My component list is quite varied. I teach freeform peyote beads, resin, cement filled bezels, needle felted pendants, and intuitive bead embroidery. In the past, I’ve also taught paper beads, altered dominos, paper pendants, altered washers, birdhouse pendants, fibre and wire beads, freeform peyote, driftwood pendants, and a motley selection of mixed media bits and pieces.
