Beading Foundations

Bead Foundation (also known as Bead Backing) is a semi-stiff material on which beads are sewn to create bead embroidery designs. A needle glides through it, but it is stiff enough to support your projects without hoops or card backings. 1.5 mm thick.

Supplied in sheets, we can supply a 100% polyester material called 'Good Felt' and a softer more flexible 'Ultrasuede' material. Ultrasuede is also popular to fix to the rear of the stiffer backing material as it creates a softer surface against the skin.

Ultra suede is a man-made fabric that does not fray or unravel. It is soft, supple and dense. It is excellent for beaded bezels around cabochons or fancy stones. It is also excellent for hot-fix rhinestones and attaching decorative studs. Use it to make jewelry or appliques!
