Wood Opalite, from Indonesia and the USA, is soft, organic shades of off-white and browns. Wood Opalite is a petrified wood, impregnated with silicon dioxide - common opal. This is wood turned to stone - petrified (from the Greek petro - meaning rock or stone.) This is not gem opal, but a less flashy relative. AKA Fossilized wood, agatized wood, petrified wood.
Mohs hardness 6.5 - 7. This is Matte finish, polished then tumbled again to a soft, unglossy finish.
